Research Areas Enzymes
Background The digestive enzyme amylase functions extracellularly to cleave starch into smaller carbohydrate groups and, finally, into monosaccharides, by hydrolysis of internal alpha-1,4-glycoside bonds which results in the production of maltose and oligosaccharides. Among healthy individuals, the pancreas and the salivary glands account for almost all serum amylase, 40-45% from the pancreas and 55-60% from the salivary glands. Serum amylase is increased in at least 75% of pancreatitis cases.
Handling
Storage These antibodies are stable for at least one (1) year at -20°C to -70°C. Store product in appropriate aliquots to avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles.
Dilution Instructions Dilute in PBS or medium that is identical to that used in the assay system.
Application Instructions These antibodies have been qualified for use in ELISA to detect human pancreatic amylase.
End users should determine optimal concentrations for their applications.
