Research Areas Cancer research
Background Cytokeratin19 is the smallest member (40kDa) of the keratin family. It forms intermediate filaments in the intracytoplasmic cytoskeleton of epithelial tissue and provides mechanical support. Cytokeratin 19 is identified in epithelial malignancies such as carcinomas of colon, stomach, pancreas, biliary tract, liver, breast, and thyroid papillary carcinomas.
