Specificity Information
Specificity This antibody specifically reacts with an epitope in the region of amino acids 1- 130 of human vitronectin. It does not react with bovine vitronectin, and this antibody does not interfere with vitronectin-mediated adhesion.
Target Name Vitronectin
Target ID Vitronectin
Uniprot ID P04004
Alternative Names VN, S-protein, Serum-spreading factor, V75 [Cleaved into: Vitronectin V65 subunit; Vitronectin V10 subunit; Somatomedin-B]
Gene Name VTN
Sequence Location Secreted, extracellular space
Biological Function Vitronectin is a cell adhesion and spreading factor found in serum and tissues. Vitronectin interact with glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans. Is recognized by certain members of the integrin family and serves as a cell-to-substrate adhesion molecule. Inhibitor of the membrane-damaging effect of the terminal cytolytic complement pathway.; Somatomedin-B is a growth hormone-dependent serum factor with protease-inhibiting activity.
Research Areas Cell adhesion
Handling
Storage The stock solution (2. 0mg/ml) can be stored in aliquots at - 20°C for 1 year or can be stored at 4°C for 6 months after adding 0.1% sodium azide. Dilutions of stock solution should not be stored.
Dilution Instructions Reconstitute lyophilized antibody in 100ul of distilled water (final concentration 2.0mg/ml).
Application Instructions ELISA: 1:3,000 dilution with solid phase antigen
Western Blot: 5-10 ug/ml under reduced and non-reduced conditions.
