Biological Function Receptor for the cytotoxic ligand TNFSF10/TRAIL (PubMed:10549288). The adapter molecule FADD recruits caspase-8 to the activated receptor. The resulting death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) performs caspase-8 proteolytic activation which initiates the subsequent cascade of caspases (aspartate-specific cysteine proteases) mediating apoptosis. Promotes the activation of NF-kappa-B. Essential for ER stress-induced apoptosis. {PubMed:10542098, PubMed:10549288, PubMed:15322075}.
Research Areas Apoptosis
Background Apoptosis is induced by cytokines in the TNF family through their death domain containing receptors. TRICK2 (TRAIL receptor inducer of cell killing 2) is a member of the TNF receptor family and contains the conserved death domain. TRICK2 is expressed at high levels in lymphocytes and spleen cells and in many types of tumor cells. Overexpression of TRICK2 rapidly induces cell death by apoptosis. TRICK2 has been shown to function as a receptor for TRAIL and can inhibit TRAIL-induced killing of lymphocytic cells. Other names for TRICK2 include DR5, Apo2, TRAIL-R2, and KILLER.
Handling
Storage This antibody is stable for at least one (1) year at -20°C. Avoid multiple freeze- thaw cycles.
Dilution Instructions Dilute in PBS or medium which is identical to that used in the assay system.
Application Instructions Immunoblotting: use at 1:500 dilution. A band of approximately 57 kDa is detected.
