Sequence Location Nucleus.
Biological Function May play a role in terminal differentiation of skeletal muscle cells but not in the determination of cells to the myogenic lineage. Functions as a repressor of TGF-beta signaling. {PubMed:19049980}.
Research Areas Cancer research
Background The ski oncogene family (ski and sno) encodes transcriptional regulators that can affect oncogenic transformation and cellular differenti- ation. ski and sno function as co- activators or co-repressors, modulating transcription by inter- acting with transcription factor complexes. ski interacts with members of the Nuclear Factor I (NFI) family, the retinoic acid receptor, and the nuclear hormone co-regulators NCoR and NCoA62/skip.
Handling
Storage This antibody is stable for at least one (1)year at -70°C. Avoid multiple freeze- thaw cycles.
Dilution Instructions Dilute in PBS or medium that is identical to that used in the assay system.
Application Instructions Immunoblotting: use at 1-5 ug/ml. Predicted molecular weight of v-ski is 55 kDa; full-length ski ranges from ~95 kDa up to ~115 kDa for hyperphosphorylated ski
Immunocytochemistry: use at 1-10 ug/ml. ski is a nuclear protein.
Immunoprecipitation: use at 1-5 ug/ml.
Positive controls: Recombinant cell lines expressing ski proteins.
