Background Picornaviruses are small, non-enveloped RNA viruses with an icosahedral capsid and a single strand, plus-sense RNA genome. The genome encodes a single polyprotein that is proteolytically processed by viral proteases into structural and non-structural proteins. The family of picornaviruses includes numerous human and animal viruses including more than 100 s of human rhinoviruses (HRV). HRV infections are characteristic upper airway infections (the main cause of the common cold), and they provoke significant lower airway symptoms for patients with asthma, cystic fibrosis, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Application Images
Description Immunoblotting: use at 2-5ug/ml. Lysates of HeLa cells infected with RV s 1A, 2, 14, 16 or 49 and blotted with #18758.
