The Hsp90 protein chaperone is a highly conserved protein critical for the proper functioning of various cellular signaling pathways and serves to mediate appropriate folding and protein-protein interactions. Hsp90 has been shown to be important for the growth of infectious agents such as Plasmodium falciparum, the causative agent of malaria. Treatment with geldanamycin effectively inhibits the growth of P. falciparum in culture, presumably through its interaction with Hsp90. In addition, a recent study has shown that PfHsp90 may be more sensitive to geldanamycin treatment than its human homolog.
Antigen: Recombinant partial PfHsp90 C-terminal 193 amino acids (Accession no. XP_001348591.1)
Host Species: Rabbit
This antibody recognizes P. falciparum Hsp90 and does not recognize Hsp90 of human, yeast, or dictyostelium..
Immunoblotting: use at 1ug/ml. A band of~90kDa is detected.
Immunofluorescence: use at 20ug/ml.
These are recommended concentrations. Endusers should determine optimal concentrations for their applications.
Dilute in PBS or medium which is identical to that used in the assay system.
This antibody is stable for at least one (1) year at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze- thaw cycles.
For in vitro investigational use only. Not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
